Eugene Bridal Shoe Guide

Hello Unforgettable Fans!

Eugene is usually not considered to be the fashion hub of Oregon, which leaves brides wondering where they can find shoes without having to leave the city. I have narrowed my list down to three local stores where brides can find shoes for themselves and their bridesmaids.

  1. Due Donne is located at the Fifth Street Market and carries designers such as Donald J. Pliner and Vince Camuto. The shoes are on the spendy side but are very stylish. If you are looking for trendy shoes to wear on your big day, Due Donne is the place to go.

  1. If you are looking for shoes that are less expensive, but still of high quality, Nordstrom Rack is a great place to start your search. The Rack has a variety of different styles from heels to wedges to flats. They also have an awesome return policy, so if a pair of shoes do not work out, they can be returned with no questions asked. The store gets new merchandise weekly and also just launched a website specifically for Nordstrom Rack, so you can order online or preview what is available before going in to the store.

  1. Miss Meers is a shoe boutique located at Oakway Center. They have locations in Corvallis and the Portland area as well. The store carries brands such as Jeffrey Campbell and Jessica Simpson. They carry a wide array of shoes at varying price points that are appropriate for any wedding location. They also carry flip flops that can be a must to the bride and bridesmaids to change into when they hit the dance floor.

A Wedding of Our Own!

Their ceremony at the Northern Lights Christmas Tree Farm was played to the theme “Key to the Heart”. It was a country chic theme with lace, wood rounds, antique bottles with wild flowers, and old keys for the centerpiece. For the guestbook, they used and old window, and the couple was also married in front of an old barn with a beautiful reception by the river. At the ceremony, the first row of seating was pews that had been refurbished by the groom himself, creating a familial and homey atmosphere that went well with their country chic theme. They also brought an upright grand piano for a friend to play during the ceremony, and arrived via a hayride for the event, which they also used to exit after the ceremony was over.

JD Elegance snapped beautiful photos of the wedding, including the moment when the bride had her father walk her down the aisle and her brother carrying a sign in front as depicted below. The couple ended the wedding with a beautiful reception complete with music provided by DJ Sazquatch, a buffet from Hole in the Wall, and the US&E’s very own bar service.

The obstacle that appeared with Vanessa’s wedding was a common foe of US&E: the weather. It was an extremely windy day during the wedding. All of the table decorations kept falling down and things were getting blown over by the wind. However, as usual, Dawn was right there to save the day and hold everything together, making sure nothing flew away by keeping an eye on all of the decorations and finding creative ways to hold things in place. Another obstacle of this wedding that many couples face was a tight budget. The bride described that she was worried that with her tight budget, that she would not be able to have her ideas become reality. In an interview with the bride, however, she says that, “Even on a tight budget, if you have an idea, [Dawn] knows how to take it and make it real. I didn’t know what I wanted because I had seen so many things. Dawn was patient and supportive. She made sure that family didn’t skew my ideas or plans. She made sure it was exactly what Andy and I wanted, and what our dream was more than our families’ dreams or budget. It was nice to not be forgotten about in the whole wedding plan. She was always there, and she never was pushy about things.”

Dawn loved working with Andrew and Vanessa as US&E staff members. They always put their all into every task the job requires, but she was even more happy to work with them to make their day amazing! “They are a beautiful example of love,” she says. -US&E staff

Top 5 Wedding Venues

Hello Unforgettable Fans!

We took a look at all the weddings we have planned so far and all the venues they have been held at. After this, we narrowed down the list to our first installment of the top 5 wedding venues. Check out our list:

1. Mount Pisgah

Mount Pisgah is infamous for its serene, beautiful setting and is a top favorite of the US&E staff and local Oregonians. One of the most unique things about this venue is that it can be either completely outdoors OR indoors. It’s a building that can be opened up to enjoy the surroundings. In addition to this, the patio is the perfect dance floor. Twinkle lights are scattered tastefully in the trees and pillars, and cafe lights strung over the dance floor. There are permanent bathrooms, and tables and chairs are included. Best of all, your wedding will go towards the non-profit group that runs the arboretum and the weddings that are held there help keep the building going. Not only have the perfect venue, but give to a beautiful cause as well.

2. Lewis and Clark Catering Company

A private urban location on the millrace near Autzen Stadium with a covered and heated patio for all weather events. It’s in town and makes a perfect urban, intimate setting, ideally for groups of 75 to 100 people. Since the venue is on site at a catering company, there is amazing on-site catering, as well as provided tables, linens, and place settings. In addition to this, there is a friendly staff and a huge, swanky bridal suite and groom’s lounge. Definitely a great pick!

3. Domaine Meriwether

This vineyard is locally infamous and established, but it has come into new ownership, which is CEO Dawn’s favorite thing about it. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful and their unique bubbles are fantastic! They have a large space that is great for large groups outdoors and a beautiful, scenic mountain backdrop for photos. If it is an off-weather day, then they also have a huge indoor space that is a blank slate, giving the bride and groom an opportunity to transform it into whatever they want to.

4. Northern Lights Christmas Tree Farm

This venue is a rustic, working farm on the middle fork of the Willamette River. It is extremely secluded, yet only 15 minutes outside of the city of Eugene, OR. There is a beautiful lawn right on the bank of the river that is perfect for ceremony and reception as well as a second farm yard site with “Pinterest” appeal. This venue also has the ability to arrive and/or leave by boat and is flexible with catering and vendor options. Included with the venue are a large tent, bar and cake tents, tables, chairs, and coffee/tea service. For the bridal party, there is access to the large log home to get ready for the wedding.

5. Sweet Cheeks

If you are looking to have a sunset wedding, you will find no better venue than Sweet Cheeks. From their amazing patio, there are incredible views and sunsets that offer beautiful wedding photos. The staff is friendly, helpful, and fun, and tables and chairs are provided. In addition to this, they have an amazing wine selection. We recommend Rosy Cheeks!

Don’t forget that the perfect venue is only made better with the perfect events coordinating team. We assure you that we will be the team to get the job done and make your dream wedding come true (or better!).

Another Event for the Hall of Fame

Hello Unforgettable Fans!

This week’s featured event is Thurston High School’s first annual Alumni Hall of Fame banquet that was coordinated by US&E earlier this year. The  banquet – that Thurston intends to be an annual event – was held in order to induct alumni athletes from the last 50 years into the school’s Hall of Fame; some of which even went on to compete in the Olympics or coach at University of Oregon. The event was planned with elegance and class, not just your typical high school awards ceremony, as many of the inductees into the Hall of Fame were successful business men and women or accomplished athletes during and even after their college years.

There were a few challenges that came with planning Thurston High School’s Hall of Fame banquet. Dawn and her team were given a limited budget and only four weeks to plan everything; however, the biggest challenge was turning a high school cafeteria into a space that the caliber of guests attending would feel was inviting and complimentary. A particular challenge with the cafeteria that the staff encountered, was that Thurston High School had asked that US&E incorporate the school colors of red, black, and white into the decor, but these colors were difficult to keep from clashing with the three shades of medium greens that made up the cafeteria’s color palette. This did not deter the staff, however, and they were able to work around the greens in a tasteful way by working once again with Bonnie Helsel, the florist and owner of Patton’s Country Gardens. Dawn designed a centerpiece of Manzanita branches with orchid blossoms attached,  a base of white hydrangeas and surrounded by soft candle lights. The tables were decorated with black linens and red napkins, and some of the honorees’ tables were even decorated with photos from their time at the school in their chosen sport. Everything flowed together beautifully.

To create a special touch for the honored guests, Hole in the Wall (an award winning bbq company in Eugene/Springfield) was asked to step out of their comfort zone and create a “menu to remember” specifically for the event. Everyone was amazed that a barbeque company had such a wide variety outside their perceived forte. In addition to this, current students at Thurston High School honored the guests by volunteering to work the event and take direction from Dawn and her staff. They were dressed in professional black and white service staff uniforms and did an excellent job serving, bussing, and making all of the attendees feel welcomed and cared for.

Something that sets US&E apart from the rest is our meticulous attention to even the smallest and seemingly insignificant details of our client’s events. We go the extra mile to make sure that nothing is overlooked and that each and every event is truly unforgettable. We are so honored to have had the privilege to be a part of such an important event in Thurston High School’s sports program and look forward to working with them again!
